Five-Animal Play Metaphor Balances – Student Reflections

Five-Animal Play Metaphor Balances – Student Reflections

Mar. 24, 2013

I came to attend the Five Animal Play Metaphor Balance class. When Ms. Choi said the theme was ¡§to live a playful heart,¡¨ I couldn¡¦t help but have tears streaming down my face¡KThrough learning, talking with Ms. Choi and balancing by Ms. Choi, I had an inexpressible easiness and found a very natural smile. Even better news is that the problem with running tears was cured the second day. Thank you, my teacher and classmates.

Through three days of learning, I deeply appreciated the profoundness of our country¡¦s culture and the unique way of balance of Ms. Choi; it was elegant, powerful, and gave in-depth inspiration and guidance to one¡¦s heart.

After three days of balancing, not only did I learn another lively way, but even more impressive was that, through the practices and balances of five-animal play, as well as the casework balance Ms. Choi did for me, all corners of my heart seemed to be cleaned. I learned to better notice, and under the guiding balance of Ms. Choi, I began to change.

I¡¦m grateful for this learning opportunity and grateful for Ms. Choi.

Thank you, friends from Dearfox! Thank you, Tang Lan!

The composure and strategy of the tiger;
The gentleness, freedom, tender self-protection and dedication in joyful play of the deer;
The composure, self-satisfaction and slowness of the bear;
The agility, enjoyment of fruit, and stepping back for the better showing of power of the monkey;
The elegance, peaceful form, freedom from worries and good balance of the bird;
The tiger¡¦s ¡§fierceness,¡¨ the deer¡¦s ¡§agility,¡¨ the bear¡¦s ¡§steadfastness,¡¨ the monkey¡¦s ¡§grab¡¨ and the bird¡¦s ¡§release,¡¨ they arise from and correspond to each other. They are worth being seriously experienced and diligently studied!

Thank you Ms. Choi, thank you the journey of Dear Fox!

¡§To live a playful heart¡¨

Through special ways, Ms. Choi inspired feelings in my heart through the metaphor of the characteristics of animals;

Pausing: I learned to experience the storing of energy in pausing, and learned to find balance in the process of moving. I learned about the stillness of the tiger, the curiosity of the deer, the joyful acceptance of the bear, the agility of the monkey, and the letting go of the crane. I hope to have the opportunity to learn more in-depth, so that I can tackle problems that continuously arise in my work, family and relationships.
