Learning to “Learn”

Learning to “Learn”

“Education” has increasingly become more than just to educate! From the perspective of the teacher, how to teach, how to educate, passing on what kind of academic knowledge ¡K that’s just half of the story!

For “education” to happen, it also needs the participation of the learner during the process. From the perspective of the learner, how to learn, what to learn, how to apply, what to apply ¡K that’s the other half of the story!

The process of learning to “learn”, I believe, is a big leap forward in modern education evolution, as well as a grand direction in human society progression. Rote learning is a good way of memorization. Yet, the method alone can hardly be sufficient to sustain, let alone nurture, competitiveness nowadays. And it has become less and less capable to cope with the needs in modern society.

Some of the crucial elements that should be added into the “education” process include: nurturing creativity and agility; respect for originality and regulations. These can be achieved through giving emphasis on playing, collaboration, experience, active learning, learning with fun and life-long learning.
