Matthew Thie’s Teaching Trip To China
Amy Choi,
January 8, 2010
It was our great pleasure to have Matthew Thie, M.Ed. to come to Beijing to conduct his first Touch for Heath (“TFH”) Clinical Intensive workshop in China for 5 days in November, 2009. To our workshop participants, it was a rare opportunity to see and experience how Matthew applied Touch for Health techniques holistically in an integrated manner in the casework setting. It was also valuable to see how some of the traditional Chinese medicine principles were organically embodied in the self-responsibility and educational model. Everyone left the workshop feeling empowered.
Besides the workshop, Matthew also conducted two introductory seminars at two prestigious universities – the Beijing Normal University and Tsinghua University. In each seminar, 200-300 participants attended to see how the simple and powerful TFH techniques could be applied in everyday lives. In these seminars, the videos of John Thie’s trip to China in the 1970s’ was also shown publicly for the first time.
Outside the formal events, a few registered Touch for Health instructors in China took time to have a hike to the Great Wall with Matthew and her fianc?Claudia. It was the same trip that his father John Thie, D.C. did in the 1970s. We had recorded plenty of video clips this time. Maybe some day, Matthew could also pass them to his children!
We are so grateful to be blessed by the light and illumination of the energy of the Thie family when China is still in the spring phase in the development of kinesiology. I would like to thank the Beijing organizer Ms. Zheng Hua, Beijing Tianxingtianzheng Co., co-organizers Ms. Zheng Hui (Dalian), Mr. Chen Yu Heng (Nanjing), Ms. Yuan Jun (Shenzhen), Mr. Huang Jinkun (Shenzhen), Mr. Shi Jianping (Shanghai), Mr. Conrad Ho (Hong Kong) to make this a fruitful and successful event.
