Be A Clear Mirror – Introduction to Ming’s Mirror Method workshop inaugurated in Germany

Amy Choi, Jan. 27, 2016

The highly artistic Ming’s Mirror Method requires opening up all senses to listen and moving with the flow to guide moment by moment. After having practiced the Method for more than 5 years in Qinesiology’s Authentic Self Series workshops and private sessions, Amy Choi openly taught it for the first time in Damme, Germany at the Institut für Kinesiologische Lernförderung (IKL) on January 21, 2016.

The course was attended by 23 participants, including two from mainland China – Mr. Luo Gang and Ms. Chen Yanbing. On the first day of the course, the participants experienced the process of Ming’s Mirror Method towards mastery, observed demonstration of two cases, and eventually applied the power of mirroring by themselves in case practice. Many participants said in their feedbacks that Ming’s Mirror was useful and easier to apply than they originally thought during observation. It enhanced their self-noticing abilities, and was very helpful in sharpening the use of their body, attention and senses in daily private sessions.

The first Ming’s Mirror client in Europe was a lady from East Germany. At the start, the posture and story of an embryo was manifested. She then recalled her past experiences of poverty and war. After that, I moved my arm to touch my right breast, and said that her next breakthrough in life should be associated with her breast. In response, the client said her chest was traumatized during childhood, with the left nipple having bitten off by a dog. Fortunately, after growing up, she could still breast-feed with her left nipple, but there was a block in breastfeeding with the right nipple. I followed the flow and moved moment by moment, and let the client stand at my back to imitate my movements. We resonated together in the field. At a particular moment, her face shone; her frowning sad face became relaxed and pleasant. She said she felt more relaxed then. I asked her afterwards whether she had a partner. She said no. I asked her again whether she wanted someone touching her breast softly. She said yes. The case consultation ended in an ambience filled with self-love. The client said she had no knowledge about kinesiology before, and was grateful for the breakthrough she experienced. She said she was a very successful merchant in East Germany. Her leadership role in a male-dominant commercial world meant she had to be tough all the time. Now having a breakthrough regarding her breast, she felt more relaxed and gentle.

The second Ming’s Mirror client in Europe was a female teacher. At the start, she and I watched together the heavy layers of snow outside. The snowy scene stimulated her sensitivity and nervousness towards coldness. I touched her hands, which were really icy cold. She then spoke of some obstacles in her work. After the session, she needs daily practice of Ming’s Mirror, through imagining holding a pair of warm hands.

It was the first time I taught others this balancing technique of resonating with the client in the field, though having practiced it for some years in the Authentic Woman, Authentic Female and Living Out Your Authentic Self workshops of the Authentic Self Series. For me, it was a brand new attempt, as I previously felt that I knew how to do it, but not how to teach others to do it. After this first course, I believe I can also teach and pass on this method.

I chose to launch the workshop in Germany for several reasons. Firstly, the people there are still healing their physical and psychological wounds caused by the world wars. They are willing to face their own selves, and with greater demand for methods dealing directly with issues lying deep in their body, mind and soul. Secondly, the sponsor Renate Wennekes is a very experienced and open-minded kinesiology teacher. She will certainly offer insights for Ming’s Mirror after having witnessed it. Thirdly, in my previous experiences of conducting kinesiology workshop in Damme, the participants always acted naturally and spontaneously in role-plays, without being obscured by over-analysis stemming from too much logical thinking. I thus think that they will be easier to accept and learn Ming’s Mirror. Fourthly, Germany is the origin of Family Constellations. I believe that Ming’s Mirror and Constellations share common characteristics, though differ in formats of manifestations and realms of application. As expected, my first teaching has proven that it is the exact good place for breeding the inaugural Ming’s Mirror Method introductory course.

The seeds of Ming’s Mirror Method have now been sown in Europe. I believe it will sprout, and take root. And I believe one day, in some places with spiritual aura in Europe, the method will help the self-beauty of everyone blossom and manifest, through the Authentic Self Series.
