Defining Myself

Defining Myself

Anita Mack (Hong Kong) June 2009

When asked to “define” myself, I used to respond on the linguistic level and came up with a few adjectives. It was never the same after the session with Conrad.

Conrad asked me to first “feel” myself, the “whole of me, and then draw it on a piece of paper. We muscle-checked the drawing, it was not “the whole me”. I was encouraged to “feel” again. This was when I suddenly realized that there was a part of me that I had not “felt” before ?the sphere behind my back. I drew again and it was muscle-checked as “the whole me”. Then we did a balance for me to experience and enjoy “the whole me”.

Strange things began to happen after the session. All of a sudden, I could feel my presence extended to the sphere behind my back. I was able to feel my back in a way I had never felt before, as if it really “was” my back then. When I practised “zi fa gong” (a type of qigong that allows the “qi” within the body to bring about different body movements), I had movements that involved my back for the first time! As a whole, I feel stronger and “fuller” in an interesting sense.

I would not have believed this if it weren’t my personal experience. It never occurred to me that there were parts of me that I did not acknowledge. Yet this was a revelation, of how my mind could have framed all aspects of my life. And the beauty of it all is that, it can be changed, for the better. I am now discovering myself on a different dimension, and experiencing myself in a newly defined way.

Hey, Conrad, thank you again for this wonderful experience!
