Brain Gym Basic and Me

Liu Xinyue (Dandong, China) August 10, 2014

Note from Amy: Liu Xinyue is the youngest Brain Gym Instructor in China. She was 18 years old when she got her license in February this year. Now, she is 19. Thanks Ms. Liu for sharing her experience in how she got involved in Brain Gym.

I am Liu Xinyue, a town girl born in 1995 in a beautiful border city called Dandong. It was my honour to become a Licensed Brain Gym® Instructor and Consultant (Education Kinesiology Foundation) in March 2014.

I first learnt about kinesiology when I travelled to Dalian to visit my teacher Ms Tang Lan at Dearfox Spiritual Intelligence Development Institute of which she was the Director. At that time, Conrad Ho was conducting a course. Upon the recommendation and encouragement of Tang Lan, I joined Conrad’s course. Since then, I became very interested in kinesiology and started my exploration into kinesiology.

I forgot when I first attended Brain Gym Basic. I only remembered I slept through the entire course. (Conrad, please don’t scold me!) But at that time, I had not had a good night’s sleep for a long time. I was very nervous every day and had difficulty in falling asleep. However, during the few days of the course, I fell asleep comparatively easier than before. To me, this was a delightful discovery. My roommate said that I slept on my back with both hands putting on my chest. I stayed in the same sleeping posture throughout the night. Moreover, when I woke up in the morning, my hands and feet were as cold as those of a zombie. However, in those few days, I could feel that I turned about sometimes during the night. With movement, my body became more relaxed when I woke up in the morning. In addition, the way Conrad presented his lecture had brought me a new experience in learning. This had increased my interest in Brain Gym®.

What happened during a physical education examination had indeed inspired me to become a Licensed Brain Gym® Instructor and Consultant. At that time, all my classmates were very nervous and one or two were so nervous that they had to frequent the bathroom. I was a bit nervous too, so I asked a few classmates to do Hooks-up with me. Though they found it strange initially, they still followed me in doing the exercise. Not long afterwards, one classmate told me that it really worked for her cause her heartbeat had become steadier. A few others also said they felt much calmer and could stand well. Receiving such feedback made me feel extremely happy. I could share useful knowledge with others and in a confident manner too. I began to know that I did have the ability to do something, and was not completely ignorant. Afterward, I discussed with my mother about obtaining Brain Gym Basic® Instructor qualification. I was glad that I have a good mother. She did not react strongly. Instead, she supported me in studying a series of courses in Brain Gym. While my father had not expressed his support, he gave me the greatest help he could manage. I also wanted to prove to myself that I could accomplish a matter that I persisted in doing.

When I gradually explored deeper into Brain Gym®, I found that my self-perception and body perception had become keener. Previously, my perspective was relatively narrow. I was only able to see problems in a certain way and not from different perspectives, thus getting myself stuck in situations. The learning in Brain Gym Basic has enabled me to open up many of my senses. And the opening up of these senses helped my body to relax. I can now change perspectives in seeing things quickly, making it comfortable for myself and others. Moreover, my concentration span has increased, and the control of my brain over muscle has become accurate and coordinated. This has translated into extraordinary high scores in playing computer games! (Of course there are good performance in other aspects, but this is more intuitive.) During the learning process, the affirmation by the teacher, classmates and myself has enhanced my confidence. I have become more open, and have also made some good friends. Now, I would usually have the courage to try new things, to explore…

I know it is important to have a strong and stable foundation in learning a school of knowledge. And there is so much for me to learn. In future, I plan to begin with introducing the Double Doodle Play course to gain experience and knowledge. For further learning, I would try, explore, deepen, integrate and produce step by step.

I wish to become an excellent young Licensed Brain Gym® Instructor and Consultant.
