Sweet Dreams

December, 2008
All along, my daughter Bao Bao has been the most beloved child in the whole family. She is a pleasant, cute and clingy kid. Although she is already 8 years old, she often acts like a baby. At first, I did not think that there was anything wrong with this. After all, she is the youngest child in the whole family. On the contrary, I am quite satisfied with this feeling of being needed that she has brought to me. One day, she told me that she did not want to grow up and she would prefer to stay infantile as a baby. That caught my attention.
Since then, I tried to do something that might change her way of thinking. For example, when she was talking in her usual voice and not in a baby-like voice, I would say to her: “Bao Bao, I liked your voice.? When she behaved like a young child, I would give her some positive feedback. However, these attempts had not been effective.
At the end of September 2008, our whole family returned from Sydney to Shenzhen in southern China and Hong Kong to visit relatives. My younger brother Huang Jing Kun had just obtained his qualification as a Registered Touch for Health Instructor. So, I took the opportunity to ask him to do some balances for her on this.
However, when I was in Shenzhen, Jing Kun recommended Conrad Ho in Hong Kong to do the balance. So, we made an appointment for the morning of October 9. I had a sense that my daughter could already feel what we had planned for her. When she met the son of Jing Kun, Biu Biu, at 3 years old, she had to act as a big sister ?a role that she was not used to. I noticed that she was not enjoying it, and was quite nervous.
In the evening of October 8, we stayed in Hong Kong to get prepared for the appointment with Conrad. Around 1:00 o’clock at night when I was sleeping, I heard Bao Bao knocking on my door. So, I guessed that she might just have a nightmare, and she might be fearful of the new environment. Therefore, I immediately took her to my bed. Usually, she would fall asleep very quickly when she slept beside me. She just lay on my bed for a while, and in a fearful mood, she said she wanted to go back to her room to sleep. In that room, there was her elder sister Zhu Zhu and Jing Kun. Therefore, I accompanied her back to her room, gently caressed her head, and she felt asleep quickly. But not long after that, I heard Bao Bao screaming, so I immediately ran over to see what happened. I saw her fearful face, and she was standing beside the door, wanting to leave. I had never seen her like this. I was scared. I held her to my room, and tried to pacify her by giving her some water to drink. While she was still in a fearful mood, I recalled that Jing Kun taught me “Tibetan Energy 8s?(note: a technique from Touch for Health), and so, I did it on her head. At first, she refused to let me do it. I just continued to do it at her back, though I did not know if I did it right. At that time, I could think of nothing else. After about 2 minutes, she seemed to have calmed down a bit, and she could close her eyes. I felt relieved. So, I stopped. At this point, Bao Bao said to me, “Mom, please continue. It was very comforting.? So, I did “Tibetan Energy 8s?again, faithfully, until she fell sound asleep. After that, she did not wake up again, though the sleep might be quite shallow.
The next day, Conrad facilitated a balance with Bao Bao. The process was very simple, and Bao Bao was very cooperative. After the balance, she felt quite happy and relaxed. Conrad told me that the issue might not be totally resolved. It would need the continued follow-up efforts of the parents. Unfortunately, we had to return to Australia soon so we could not go for more balances. Fortunately, I learnt from Jing Kun the Touch for Health 14 muscle balances and other skills. I wish I was able to cope with it!
In the first half month after returning to Australia, Bao Bao seemed to be a lot more relaxed, and she was not bothered by the discomfort of being the sister of Biu Biu. However, in less than a month, she began having nightmares again. Ever since she went back to China, her nightmares became more and more serious, and her emotions became more out of control. Every time, I wanted to use the Emotional Stress Release Points (ESR) to calm her down, but she pushed me away every time. I could only hold her in my arms and used the “Tibetan Energy 8?to settle her down. Then, I would use ESR to calm her down further and put her back to sleep. Such incidents happened more and more frequently ?about once or twice every week.
In early December 2008, she had a very horrible nightmare ?it was so bad that she wanted to escape even when she was at home. She left her own room, ran to my room, then from my room to downstairs. She would walk in the living room, in the kitchen, then to the main door. She just wanted to go out. This made me feel that she might be feeling unsafe at home ?even unsafe in my arms. This made me afraid because I did not know why it happened like this.
The next day, I could not wait to call Jing Kun, and told him the story of Bao Bao. Under the guidance of Jing Kun, I did the following things:
1. I talked with Bao Bao about what happened in her dreams. She could remember very clearly the most recent dreams. So, I let her draw it out. This was what she drew:
2. After drawing, I let her look at her own paintings and checked her supraspinatus muscles. The muscles were not locking muscle. (editor’s note: unlocking supraspinatus indicated stress in the brain-body system)
3. Then I gave her a 14 muscle balance.
4. Then, I asked her to look at the painting again. The muscles were locking.
5. Every night before going to bed, I massaged her Spinal Reflexes points, and then Neuro-lymphatic points. When she was more relaxed, I did the ESR.
After more than a week, Bao Bao did not have any nightmares, and the quality of her sleep had clearly improved ?she did not even kick off her blanket when sleeping! In the morning of December 16, Bao Bao said to me: ?Mom, can you do those things to me everyday? After you did that, I slept very well, and I had sweet dreams.? After listening to her, my heart felt so warm and sweet.
In the evening, I talked to her about her dreams again. She seemed to be very relaxed. I let her look at her old drawing again, and checked her supraspinatus. It was still locking. What I did not expect was, Bao Bao asked to draw her dreams again. See below:
After the drawing, I let her look at it and check her supraspinatus muscles. They were locking.
This was the first great experience that Touch for Health has brought to me. I would like to thank Jing Kun, Conrad Ho, and Touch for Health!
