Letter from a Parent – Child Became More Independent After Move To Learn Summer Camp

“Dear Conrad,

Hello! Sherry (translator’s note: a ten-year-old girl) had undergone great changes last year, indeed. In the Move To Learn Summer Camp 2009, she had learnt to overcome her fear for failure. Afterwards, she had much more courage, and dared to try. She had organized a musical band, become a song-writer and singer, and was on TV for it. She had initiated a fund-raising programme for an orphanage. In the process, she had gathered confidence. Her academic performances were good all along. Though not that remarkable during tests and quizzes, her results during term examinations were always at the very top.

After the Move To Learn Summer Camp 2010, her biggest observable change so far was that she had begun to organize her own things. Before, her room was like the pig’s den. The second day after coming back from the camp this year, she tidied up all the rooms in our three-storey house and cleaned up all the floors. Previously, when I asked her to organize her messes, she was always unwilling. Now, she does it right away. She is increasingly independent these days. I really feel she has grown up. She said she would like to study in Harvard University, U.S.A. and has started reading into the background of the university.

Her friend, Wen Ai, had also made great progresses during the camp this year. After coming back, his mother found him doing his homework out of his own initiative for the first time in his whole life. In the past, it was his mother who was always pushing him from behind. Now, he himself wants to learn. His mother is so happy about it.

The Move To Learn Camp is really good!

Thank you for your care!

Susan”
