Why Participating in the Greater China Kinesiology Conference?
By Conrad Ho, Hong Kong, October 2, 2017
Since the first Greater China Kinesiology Conference in 2016, people constantly asked, “Why should I participate in the conference?” To answer this question, one must ask oneself, “In what capacity and way I am attending the conference?”
If you know nothing about kinesiology or you are already a kinesiology student, the reasons and ways to participate are as follows: 1. Hear the insights of professional kinesiology instructors in the seminars with the intention of improving the quality of your life; 2. through informal encounters in the conference that will naturally occur, you will have the opportunity to know some instructors, workshop organizers and co-sponsors and vice versa. As a result, it will become easier for you to find the appropriate kinesiology course for yourself; 3. Visit the on-site exhibition with free admission and listen to the explanations given by a guide in order to know more about kinesiology in the educational model; 4. Try the one-on-one balancing sessions at a discounted rate and experience new possibilities of personal growth; 5. Join the discussions in the two evening forums, exploring the paths of development of kinesiology worldwide as well as in Greater China region, to gain a deeper understanding of kinesiology; and 6. Pay attention to the advertisements at the venue and in the conference manuals to secure more relevant and useful information. Through all these efforts, you are grasping the opportunities to listen, to see and to experience in order to seek and create further space for your personal growth.
The consumer may ask, “If I take a course instead, I will understand even deeper, right?” This could be true, could be not! When a person faces a lot of possibilities and has to make a wise choice, he needs to go through the stage and process of data collection. The conference provides consumers with an one-stop service, allowing you to gather a lot of relevant information of the Kinesiology industry within only a few days. If a consumer has already spent a few thousand dollars and several days just to find that the course content does not fit his needs, or the course instructor does not meet his expectations, or the course organizer is not targeting himself as their customer, the consumer would suffer a greater loss. Moreover, after carefully reading the paragraph above, the consumer would easily realize that most courses go for depth and the conference aims at width. These are two kinds of experience and each has its own unique advantages.
If you are an authorized instructor and your capacity in the conference is a speaker, the reasons for your participation could be as follows: (1) share your insights in the seminar, with the express purpose of contributing to the improvement of the life quality of the audience; and (2) Let the market know about you, which help you further your career of the Kinesiology instructor. However, you may have other reasons to participate in other ways, such as (3) placing advertisements in various official channels to promote yourself; (4) offering your one-on-one balancing sessions through the organizer’s arrangement, so that consumers could experience the balancing procedure as well as your techniques in it; (5) through informal communications and consultations, the participants could have a better understanding of you and kinesiology; (6) visiting the exhibition, or even volunteering as a guide there so that the participants and you yourself could have a better understanding of kinesiology in the educational model; (7) joining the discussions in the two evening forums to actively explore the path of development of kinesiology worldwide and in the Greater China, which would allow you to ride on the wave better. Through all these efforts, you are grasping the opportunities to voice, to see and be seen, and to create further space for your market growth.
If you are a Kinesiology course organizer and co-sponsor, or are considering to become an organizer and co-sponsor, the reason of your participation is to know more about kinesiology, its professional instructors, the current scene of the industry, its sub-culture, the unspoken rules of its operations as well as incumbent course organizers and co-sponsors who can be partners and rivals at the same time. Before and during the process of deciding whether to enter into a certain sector, you need to survey the field well. The ways of your participation could be (1) placing advertisements, (2) receiving a one-on-one balancing session, (3) visiting the exhibition, (4) having informal communications and consultations with the participants at the conference, and (5) taking part in the discussions at the evening forums. Through all these efforts, you are grasping the opportunities to see, be seen and to explore the space for your market growth.
Last but not least, I would add that my ambition of organizing kinesiology conferences, playfully depicted as “import and export trade”, is to promote sino-foreign exchanges in the field of Kinesiology and personal growth. In the last century, China has experienced political turmoils from within and threatened by wars and invasions from without. Under various considerations, the Chinese governments at different times had pursued different degrees of blockade policy. Now, it is an era of peace and prosperity. China needs to re-integrate into the world. It is true to the heavy industries, the technology and creative industries and especially true to the personal growth industry. The renewal of “hardwares” of a country and society is expensive but relatively easy. The renewal of “softwares” of the human mind is even more expensive and difficult. As the Chinese proverb goes: It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred years to produce a talent. That is a reason for having a Kinesiology conference for the Chinese society.
I believe my summary here could provide certain grounds for readers to make your own wise decision whether to participate in the Greater China Kinesiology Conference 2017. Look forward to meeting all of you on 4-7 November 2017 in Shenzhen.
