Expanding My First Aid Kit

Expanding My First Aid Kit

Wendy Cheng

After completing the Touch for Health Synthesis workshop, I found that the skill of “Tibetan Eight Energy” was great in reducing pain. It is particularly handy when my kids have tummy ache or pain from falling, etc. It is like the “Lazy Eight” in Brain Gym® applied on different parts of the body. For alleviation of pain or discomfort, I usually apply it on the pain spot. For tummy ache, for example, the herbal “White Flower Oil” with Tibetan Eight is a great combination. My kid enjoys it very much.

I once did Tibetan Eight on a friend who had been bothered by shoulder joint pain and had received physiotherapy for it for quite some time. She was amazed when the pain was gone only after a 5-minute Tibetan Eight treatment. I like Tibetan Eight because it is quick and

easy, no need to remember the muscle checking postures, meridians, massage or touching points. Nowadays, people like “quick fix”. It fits perfectly in. So it is always one of the tools in my “first-aid kit”. As with any other tool, it does not work 100% at 100% of the time.

In Touch for Health Synthesis, there is another technique called Time of Day Balance. When I studied it as a student, I understood it to be a way to “reset” the biological clock to the appropriate time of the day. So, I always associated it with jetlag and forgot about its power in reducing pain. Last weekend when I taught TFH4, I was reminded of its other benefits.

The night after the workshop, I had a headache.
I did a Time of Day balance before going to bed.
The headache was gone and I slept well (I usually
could not sleep well if I had a headache). In another
night, my son complained that he slipped while
playing football and had hurt his ankle. As usual, I
did Tibetan Eight on the pain spot. He said it was better but still bothered him, so I did a Time of Day balance with him. He felt so much better that he looked at me with unbelieving eyes. “See? Your mum is not the ‘one song for all’ type,” I thought. When his father had shoulder pain the other day, he highly recommended the Time of Day Balance.

Wow! Another tool for my first-aid kit. Is it not great that we have so many tools in hand to handle our daily needs? Very often, I have a “Special for the Month”. During the period, I tend to use one or two specific tools to handle most of my personal issues and personal coaching cases. Like a restaurant changing its “Chef’s recommendation”, I will have my new love in another tool every now and then. This rotation of “dishes” has contributed greatly to my effective use of my tools. They are now more and more accessible. When I am wondering what to get from my “box” for a particular issue, the most appropriate one usually catches my attention. This is intuition, I believe. Sometimes, this tool works; other times, other tools work. They are inexpensive, easy to use and no equipment is required. What we need is probably a heart to feel, to empathize and to love. The loving heart, together with the skills from Brain Gym® and Touch for Health, works wonders. 
